In servis.ai, Administrators often create dashboards and share them with the entire team so everyone sees the same key metrics, charts, and reports. These shared dashboards are valuable because they provide a consistent, company-wide view of performance data.
However, not everyone works the same way. A sales manager might want to see a different set of widgets. A marketing specialist might need additional filters. An individual contributor might prefer a different chart layout.
That’s where Dashboard Override comes in. This feature lets any team member create their own personalized copy of an Admin-created or read-only shared dashboard — without changing or breaking the original that everyone else relies on.
Note: The original dashboard stays exactly as the admin intended. Your personal copy is yours to customize freely.
How Dashboard Sharing Works
When an Administrator creates a dashboard and decides to share it with the team, they choose one of three access levels:

No one else can see the dashboard. It’s personal to the creator.

Read-Only (Team Visibility)

Team members can view the dashboard but cannot save changes to it. The Save button is disabled.

Full Edit Access (Team Visibility)
|
Team members can view and modify the dashboard, and save changes that everyone sees.

What “Overriding” a Dashboard Means
Overriding a dashboard does not mean changing the original. It means:
- Creating a personal duplicate of a shared dashboard that you can freely customize — adding, removing, or rearranging widgets to suit your needs.
The original dashboard remains untouched and continues to display correctly for all other team members.
What Happens When You Override
-
The system creates a brand-new dashboard in your personal space.
-
All widgets and layout from the original are copied to your new dashboard.
-
Your personal copy is private by default — only you can see it.
-
The original shared dashboard is completely unaffected.
-
You can now edit, add widgets, remove widgets, resize, and rearrange your copy freely.
Creating Your Personal Dashboard Copy
Creating the Override
-
Open the shared dashboard you want to personalize.
-
Navigate to the dashboard from your home page, left sidebar menu, or direct link.
-
-
Click the dashboard Save menu (the button with “Save” and a dropdown arrow, located at the top-right of the dashboard toolbar).
-
Select “Save as New” from the dropdown menu.
-
A dialog window opens asking you to name your new dashboard.
-
-
Give your dashboard a name.
-
Choose something descriptive so you can easily find it later (e.g., “My Sales Pipeline” or “Marketing Dashboard — Custom”).
-
The name must be unique — you can’t use the same name as an existing dashboard.
-
-
(Optional) Configure sharing for your copy.
-
By default, your new dashboard is private. If you want to share your customized version with others:
-
Turn on Share with Team.
-
Choose the access level: Read-Only or Full Edit Access.
-
-
-
(Optional) Toggle “Hide Filters”.
-
If enabled, the filter bar is hidden on your personal copy, giving a cleaner look.
-
-
Click Save.
-
Your new dashboard is created and opens automatically.
-
You’re now looking at your personal copy — customize it however you like!
-
Result
-
You’re redirected to your new personal dashboard.
-
The URL changes to reflect the new dashboard ID.
-
The Save button is now enabled — you have full editing rights.
-
The original shared dashboard is unchanged.
Customizing Your Personal Dashboard
Once you’ve created your personal copy, you have full control. Here’s what you can do:
Add New Widgets

Select “Add New” from the Dashlets button.
-
Choose the widget type (chart, metric, list, etc.).
-
Configure the widget’s data source, filters, and appearance.

Edit Existing Widgets
-
Click the three-dot menu on any widget.
-
Modify the widget’s configuration (data source, chart type, filters, etc.).
-
Click Save to apply changes.
Rearrange Widgets
-
Drag and drop widgets to reposition them on the grid.
-
Resize widgets by dragging their edges or corners.
Remove Widgets
-
Click the three-dot menu on the widget you want to remove.
-
Select Remove or Delete.
Save Your Layout
-
After making changes, click Save in the dashboard toolbar to persist your customizations.
FAQ
Q: Does my personal copy stay updated when the admin changes the original?
A: No. Your personal copy is an independent dashboard. If the admin adds new widgets or changes the layout on the original, your copy is not affected. To get the latest version, create a new copy of the updated original.
Q: Can I share my personal copy with others?
A: Yes. When creating your copy (or later through Settings), you can enable “Share with Team” and choose read-only or editable access.
Q: What happens if I’m on a read-only dashboard and try to save changes?
A: The Save button is disabled. If you make changes to widgets and try to navigate away, the system recognizes the dashboard is read-only and will not prompt you to save unsaved changes — your changes are simply discarded when you leave.
Q: Can I edit widgets on a read-only dashboard temporarily (to explore data) without saving?
A: You can interact with widgets (apply temporary filters, drill down into charts) without needing to save. These explorations are session-based and won’t persist. For permanent customizations, create a personal copy using “Save as New.”
Q: Who sees my personal dashboard?
A: By default, only you. Personal dashboards are private unless you explicitly choose to share them.
Q: Is there a limit to how many personal copies I can create?
A: There is no hard limit on the number of dashboards you can create. However, keeping your dashboard list organized with clear naming is recommended.
Q: What’s the difference between “Editable” shared access and creating a personal copy?
A: If a dashboard is shared as “Editable,” any team member who saves changes is modifying the original dashboard that everyone sees. Creating a personal copy via “Save as New” gives you a separate, private version — your changes don’t affect anyone else.
